The 144,000 doctrine has got to be one of the most terribly flawed doctrines the JW's teach, right up there with that ''half-wit'' blood doctrine.

The fade did not work

not long after learning ttatt, my hubby and i decided it would be best for us to fade.

his entire family is in, but not in the same cong.

we made it to the region convention and one sunday meeting after that.

Fading is like an art. For many it does take patience and planning, I know it's very tough but over time it works out.

How Cultish are the JW's?

first off, i certainly agree the jw's are a cult.

but i'm sensitive to black-and-white thinking now.. so, where do they rank on the scale?

think of a cultish religion scale from 0-10.. consider the likes of unitarian universalism vs baptist vs amish vs charles manson.. where do you think jw's fall on the scale?.

That blood doctrine is a terrible one, dangerous. I'll stand to be corrected, but from what I've understand a blood transfusion procedure was not performed until within the last century or so, I think I'm not sure of the exact timeline I read it a few years ago.

So, if that's the case, that scripture in Acts was referring simply to injesting/eating blood. How in hell would someone be able to attempt a blood transfusion in bible times is just beyond me.

1874 or 1914, it's hard to put a finger on it. Realistically, it hasn't even happened yet because it's said every eye will see Him and we wouldn't have to ponder when He reappears.

I forgot to mention that the JW's probably have 2 levels of shunning. The first one is pre-emptive shunning, when you aren't DF'd yet, but you are treated like one in public or anywhere where the Dubs snub you avoid making eye contact etc. The 2nd level is the full blown Borg enforced DF'd induced shunning. Now this is when every J-Dub alive, including your family who is not living in your house, will ignore you.

Is it the Elders in your cong or from the borg

i'm just wondering, i read on another thread that as a unwritten rule ivf is a no no.

i've never heard this, so it got me thinking about other things like getting sterilised i've heard differing views on this.

some say it's fine others say the society say's no.. what about circumcision, in the u.k. & oz it's not so big (excuse the pun) but i watched a doco that said it was a big deal in america & most men have it done.

a single sister in her 40s and her two single daughters were visiting my mom.

I'd say it' all part of a control mechanism to keep up with the over-righteous Borg mentality about saying only to marry an MS. Some of those MS can be the biggest douchebags. Whereas some of the non-MS brother are the ''kindest, loving'' people as mentioned earlier. Pathetic and sad, yes to say the least.

The JW's are told to;

who they can love, who they can associate with, what they can wear, abstain from life-saving medical treatment with blood, how to spend their time, not to celebrate ANY holidays, what to watch for entertainment.....I don't know but nothing sounds more like a ''cult'' to me. I have to say right up on the scale around 8 or 9.
